If you rlooking for an inexpensive 12 MP Camera that takes decent Quality pictures then this is the camera for you. You can't really pick a better digital camera if your a first time buyer. You get the best bang for your buch and has the ability to record shore videos. The negative side of this fideo is it's lighting. I think the problem lies with the optics or subpar ccd, and therefore light essentially becomes your enemy. Without super saturated lighting the quality of the picture decreases.

Nice, large clear LCD screen. Numerous settings to select from - from completely manual to completely automatic with multiple choices between. Settings range from novice picture takers to serious photographers. Knobs/buttons/wheels nicely laid out with little visible LEDs that tell you when you are overriding the automatic setting on the camera. Face detection works well, even with multiple faces or side profiles in the picture. Resolution is really, really nice! Optical viewfinder and LCD screen match, so no compensation needed - optical viewfinder adjustable for those of us who wear glasses.

Remarkable picture quality and $100 for an 8Mb camera.. WOW .. movies too! (VGA 640x480)Excellent value with the free combo 2Gb SDcard and case.. both fit and worked fine.The camera is VERY capable with lots of options.. took about an hour to get the in's and out's of using it. (This was my first digital camera). It worked fine with a brief scan (quick start) but the camera is capable of much more.It has many focus, exposure (f-stop and shutter speed), color balance (ie flourescent and incandescent lights), etc options .. I love it so far I have a semi-professional photography background (with press and SLR cameras of the old days) and this little cigarette-pack box is a real sleeper.

The camera is awkward for me to use.. the lens in top right corner makes it very easy for me to get my fingers in the way.. I think a lefty would be much more "natural" .. so it takes a bit of "thinking" to use it and keep my mits out of the way.. I'd like the lens on the opposite corner.. but this is being picky.. I can see the value in a "shaped" camera design as some others have, but this is very compact and sleek .. so no "grip guides" or other user aids ..

The metal casing feels good in the hand, makes it feel more like a serious camera unlike the cheap plastic cameras. Takes excellent pictures. Excellent manual control option, good for being creative with your photography. Controls are easy and quick to operate.

Cons: Battery/memory card compartment cover will come open if you're not careful. Does write a little slow, compared to film cameras where you just snap and go this takes a second to write to the media, but that seems to be a problem with most digital camera's.

An excellent for snapping photo's.
