I am very satisfied with this purchase. The notebook is very fast and Asus supplies a free 32 bit Win7 upgrade that they will mail out to registered owners who ask for it on their website. The specs are outstanding in this price range. I bought this for school and gaming and it is very capable in both departments. This unit has bluetooth which I might use for a mouse and an esata port which I am sure will come in handy for portable storage. Setup with my home network was quick and trouble free. This laptop gets 5 stars for features, functionality, specs and I like what seems to be Asus commitment to quality and providing the best value for dollars spent. The fact that they replied in various reviews shows that they take customers complaints seriously and I like the cut of their jib for doing so. It isn't touted on the description page but if you fill out their registration form they bump their warranty up to two years for the hardware including accidental drops (one time only).

Cons: No upgrade path or drivers for Win 7 64 bit. I installed it but couldn't get full functionality and Asus' driver page for this notebook only has Vista drivers. There are drivers for other notebooks but there were a dizzying amount of them and hard to decipher which would work where. I put Vista back on there until Asus has 64 bit drivers up for it and will probably upgrade to 64bit when I get the win7 disk as it will be accompanied by a win7 notebook driver disk.
Other Thoughts: I don't notice the keyboard lag but there are fixes for it posted in some of the reviews. As far as disabling the touchpad there is a handy blue button above the keypad that turns this on and off as well as a function with the touchpad software that turns the touchpad off if you have a mouse connected.
