The laptop is loaded with features useful to someone on the go. The small size and light weight means you can toss this machine in a book bag and head off to the library or the coffee shop without feeling as though you're lugging a heavy load around. The battery life is more than acceptable for these kinds of trips. The laptop does not seem to get very hot under normal tasks like word processing or looking around the Internet. Immediately after receiving the unit and charging the battery, I installed eeebuntu on the machine via USB thumb-drive. I now have a wonderful little machine that I can take anywhere to do what I need. I'm debating whether or not to pick up one of the clear protective cases that snaps on the machine to protect it from scratches.

Very Portable, Reasonably powerful Intel Atom Processor, Easily over clocked to 1.7 gHz from Asus applet in tray, Excellent battery life, VERY well made, 3 USB2 ports, VGA port, Card reader and Audio in and out. It has built in Wireless networking and a good built in webcam as well as an Ethernet Port. This baby does everything my BIG heavy laptop does but is small and light. It truly IS the best netbook out there for the price. The Atom process is also Hyper-threaded which makes multitasking a breeze. Comes with XP and 1 gig of RAM. I put another gig in it but 1 gig is plenty for XP. Unlike the Acer installing RAM takes less then 1 minute. Pull off the rear panel and replace the 1 gig stick with a 2 gig.
Unfortunately, being a small laptop means you will have to shrink all of the physical components. The keyboard is substantially smaller than a normal laptop, and if you are cursed with large fingers like I am, it is pretty easy to double strike keys or miss the smaller spacebar. It is something I will have to adapt to when using this machine, and already I am getting better at typing on this machine. The screen too is smaller, but so long as you use this computer for tasks it was designed for (Internet, e-mail, word processing), the small real estate of the screen shouldn't pose any problems for you.
